MySpace - General Information and facts about the revolution in Social networking
MySpace is not a unique site but offers a unique twist to the variety of social networking sites that are on the internet. Not only does MySpace offer the ability to add friends, find friends, and a blog space to inform your friends of all the happenings in your life but also allows for full customization by allowing the script to be rendered and altered to suit the user’s needs. MySpace also includes the ability to send e-mails, post videos, write blogs and share pictures. This is one of the unique features of MySpace though it can lead to a number of various issues within the site itself. Some of the issues, which may arise from the use of user-altered script, are badly rendered pages, pages that do not load or pages that take a long time to load and use a large amount of resources.
MySpace, corporate offices are located in Beverly Hills, California with its parent company located in New York City. MySpace is owned by news Corp. Alexa Internet lists MySpace as the third most popular website in the United States and the fifth most popular English-language website. Among the social networking sites available on the web, MySpace holds approximately 80% of visits.
The content of the MySpace profile is not unique. Initially on the default profile you will see two areas. The first one is about me and the second, who I'd like to meet. This lends itself to the dating and social networking aspect that this site was originally designed for; these sections are optional for users. Along with the profile, there are sections for interests, details, a blog that contains standard basic features for content, and even has places to indicate a motion and what type of music or book; you're listening to a reading at the time. Other services include uploading images search page, comments, messages, embedded video service, and a bulletin board.
One of the unique features of MySpace is the ability to alter your profile page. You can do this by entering HTML. The areas that can be altered are the areas for example about me, I would like to meet, interests, videos, and even flash-based content may be included. MySpace, users also have the ability to add music using the MySpace music service. The best way to change the general appearance of the user profile page is using CSS. One of the initial problems is that the CSS script has to be entered into the middle of the page leaving the MySpace information at the top, which is one of the issues that lead to poor rendering, heavy load times, and excessive use of resources. Some of the other features that MySpace offers outside of it’s basic profile pages, are MySpace IM group functions which allowing users to create a group for various functions for example role playing games, and MySpace mobile for use with cell phones. One of the issues that have come up recently with MySpace is the fact that the registration process uses a verification system, which has no alternative for those individuals who are visually impaired. This, of course, prevents these users from accessing the registration without assistance.
